HISTORY

Mote House, locally known as the ‘mansion in the park’, was demolished in 1793, rebuilt by 1800 and re-opened again in 2012, including the Restaurant.

Designed by Daniel Asher Alexander, Mote House coincided with the damming of the River Len to form the lake and the addition of internal roads, walls, a boathouse and a bridge over the lake.

Set within the grounds surrounding Mote House lies the rest of the village, including the Walled Garden – a unique location with an attractive selection of cottages, Gatehouse Lodge – a stunning collection of lodge houses and apartments and the beautifully restored The Brewhouse.

LOCAL AREA

The restaurant is located near Maidstone, the historic county town of Kent known as the ‘Garden of England’ in less than 40 miles from London. As the River Medway snakes through Maidstone, it's linking it to Rochester and the Thames Estuary. Originally the area was founded on water trade routes and the Medway transported much of the agricultural county of Kent’s trade.
